The Razzle Dazzle Do - Aug 6th 2011
2011 is the third year that Prince George has a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis research called the Razzle Dazzle Do. We are very grateful to the supporters who donated their old jewellery so we could create this neckpiece, and to the dedication of the volunteers who organize and contribute to this event. Congratulations as this year was an undisputable success!
"Air to Breathe, Wings to Soar"
This is a special piece, and so we must tell its story. The Razzle Dazzle Do is an event that brings the community together, and with this purpose in mind members of our community donated their gold so that we could create this neckpiece which was auctioned off at the Razzle Dazzle Do event. This neckpiece has individually crafted pieces all linked together. At the front are two pieces that are carved and textured to represent wings. We have titled this creation “Air To Breathe, Wings To Soar”, and we hope it will serve all the people who are working so hard to make a better life for those living with Cystic Fibrosis. This neckpiece has a value of $2262.40 after taxes. This piece was auctioned at the Razzle Dazzle Do on August 6th 2011 at Sweder Berries U-Pick, and the proceeds for the night surpassed expectation, with over $35,000 raised.
A Word From Karen Kellett - Razzle Dazzle Do Organizer
We sold out this year with 160 guests for dinner. The summer weather arrived just in time to create a magical evening of great local food, a beautiful setting and many happy, smiling people, including our many faithful volunteers to whom we owe great thanks. Our goal was to provide a positive, enjoyable dining experience with local products so that folks would always associate local food with happy memories and look for local food in their grocery stores, wherever they live. At the same time, we sense the urgency to raise funds for research into a cure or control for cystic fibrosis. The cure is within our grasp and Canada is a world leader in CF research. Our scientists are addressing the many facets of this disease from all angles and finding success in so many areas. Our national strategic plan calls for a 50 % increase in funds raised over the next 3 years and the Prince George CF Chapter is excited about the challenges and the potential outcomes of such a push. We are so grateful for the support of businessmen like Darrell who believes in our mission and that our goals are attainable. Finding dedicated volunteers to take on the huge task of organizing such an event is always a challenge and we welcome committed individuals to our team.
Razzle Dazzle Do - 2010
"The Wisdom of Experience" and "Shades of Experience"
The gold in these pieces was donated by supporters in the fight against Cystic Fibrosis. We added nuggets to alloy the gold up to 14kt, a 10mm x 12mm blue topaz and two 6mm round garnets, chains, and labour to create these pendants. The design reflects movement and fluidity while the stones sparkle with life. Once again, at Hubbell Designer Goldsmiths, we are pleased to be a part of the Razzle Dazzle Do by donating these two pendants that have a total value of $4490 after taxes. The pendants we have made were auctioned at the Razzle Dazzle Do on August 7th 2010 at Sweder Berries U-Pick
Razzle Dazzle Do - 2009
"The Moons of Jupiter"
We have created this hand made 10kt yellow gold opal neck piece for the 2009 Razzle Dazzle Do from material donated by supporters of this event. The design evolved to include a hand made chain, (each link represents a step toward finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis) and a fanciful representation of Jupiter and two of its’ Moons. In Roman Mythology, Jupiter was the King of Gods and was most able to make wishes come true. At Hubbell Designer Goldsmiths we are pleased to do our part to help make the dream of finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis come true.
